Good News

A couple of weeks ago I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Gastroesophageal Junction Adenocarcinoma. In simple terms I have stomach cancer that has now spread throughout my lymph node system. This cancer is inoperable, but the good news is chemotherapy may work. I start my therapy this Wednesday and I feel very positive. I know God is with me and I plan on being cancer free soon. I created this blog to update you on my progress and look forward to reading your comments. Feel free to ask questions, leave comments or email me at livestronghidalgo@gmail.com. Thanks in advance for the prayers and well wishes.

"And we rejoice in the hope for the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perserverance; perserverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." Romans 5:2-5

"Look to this day, for it is life. For yesterday is already a dream and tomorrow is only a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope."

  2. Mark,

You have identified two of God's principles. The first is that He is in total control. He had a plan for our lives even before we were born.

The second is that we will never understand all of God's plan - He wants us to live by faith.

  5. Dear Uncle Mark

My words cannot express enough how I feel about you. I love you with all my heart and soul. I look up to you and always have. You are a very special person to me. I know what a strong man you are and that you are going to kick this "cancer's ass" just like you told me you would. I am by your side all the way. I am just a phone call away for anything you need. We will get through this and beat it. Brad and the kids send their love and prayers. We have family prayers every night when putting Graci to bed. You and Kay are the number one prayers on the list.

    ALL MY LOVE and PRAYERS

  7. Mark, I love how you're choosing scripture to go with your entries. It helps me to read your choices, too. You should check out this scripture in contemporary words called The Message. Bono from U2 praises it highly, and it really is good! Mark, you know what you already hit on when you talked about all the stuff you were doing a month ago-we are not what we DO. That's not who we are, and it's not why God loves us. I'm a teacher and I have been taught to "separate the child from the behavior" We can all learn from that.
