A couple of weeks ago I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Gastroesophageal Junction Adenocarcinoma. In simple terms I have stomach cancer that has now spread throughout my lymph node system. This cancer is inoperable, but the good news is chemotherapy may work. I start my therapy this Wednesday and I feel very positive. I know God is with me and I plan on being cancer free soon. I created this blog to update you on my progress and look forward to reading your comments. Feel free to ask questions, leave comments or email me at livestronghidalgo@gmail.com. Thanks in advance for the prayers and well wishes.
"And we rejoice in the hope for the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perserverance; perserverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." Romans 5:2-5

Mark,
ReplyDeleteYou have identified two of God's principles. The first is that He is in total control. He had a plan for our lives even before we were born.
The second is that we will never understand all of God's plan - He wants us to live by faith.

Dear Uncle Mark
ReplyDeleteMy words cannot express enough how I feel about you. I love you with all my heart and soul. I look up to you and always have. You are a very special person to me. I know what a strong man you are and that you are going to kick this "cancer's ass" just like you told me you would. I am by your side all the way. I am just a phone call away for anything you need. We will get through this and beat it. Brad and the kids send their love and prayers. We have family prayers every night when putting Graci to bed. You and Kay are the number one prayers on the list.
ALL MY LOVE and PRAYERS

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed our visit tonight. It makes me feel better to talk to you. Your strength gives me strength. You are not alone in this battle. We will beat this cancer together. Looking forward to our next visit.
Looking forward to that steak dinner.
I Love You

Mark, I love how you're choosing scripture to go with your entries. It helps me to read your choices, too. You should check out this scripture in contemporary words called The Message. Bono from U2 praises it highly, and it really is good! Mark, you know what you already hit on when you talked about all the stuff you were doing a month ago-we are not what we DO. That's not who we are, and it's not why God loves us. I'm a teacher and I have been taught to "separate the child from the behavior" We can all learn from that.
ReplyDeleteMark, I know you will put some Miagisan on that cancer. Kick it's ass bro! I love ya. We all love ya (Exxonmobil Safety). Hang in there and know that you are in my daily thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteDottie and I are not religous people either but we find ourselves praying for Mark dailey.
ReplyDeleteWe will continue until he beats this monster.
Mark, I saw Toy Babb at dinner Wed. night she told me of your diagnosis as well as gave me one of your "LIVESTRONG"bracelets. Know that you and your family will always be in my prayers.I pray for your peace, comfort, healing and salvation. It is strange how "man plans and GOD laughs",our lives here are for his glory!Know that his word was given to us so that we may be able to "LIVESTRONG"through him.May God always bless you, your friend Paul Traylor
ReplyDeletePaul, So nice to hear from you. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. I am blessed and will beat it with God's help. We are weak but He is strong.
